Sinopsis

El sector florícola se ha consolidado como una de las actividades exportadoras más representativas dentro de la economía ecuatoriana. Su participación en los mercados internacionales ha fortalecido la integración comercial, la generación de empleo y el desarrollo productivo en varias regiones del país. No obstante, la complejidad del comercio internacional, los estrictos estándares de calidad exigidos por los compradores internacionales y la presión cada vez mayor por operaciones sostenibles han transformado la gestión logística en un componente estratégico de la competitividad organizacional.

Bajo estas condiciones, las empresas florícolas requieren cadenas de suministro eficientes, sistemas logísticos integrados y procesos operativos coordinados capaces de responder a las dinámicas del mercado mientras preservan la calidad del producto y la confiabilidad de las entregas.

De manera simultánea, la evolución de la gestión logística ha generado importantes transformaciones en las actividades de producción, transporte, inventario y distribución dentro de las industrias orientadas a la exportación. La incorporación de tecnologías digitales, sistemas de automatización, mecanismos de trazabilidad y herramientas de evaluación del desempeño ha mejorado la visibilidad operativa y fortalecido los procesos de toma de decisiones a lo largo de las cadenas de suministro.

En la industria florícola, estos elementos son especialmente relevantes debido a que las flores constituyen productos altamente perecibles que requieren un estricto control de temperatura, sistemas de transporte eficientes y una coordinación precisa entre las áreas de producción, los operadores logísticos y las redes internacionales de distribución.

La presente obra examina la relación entre la gestión logística y la competitividad en el sector florícola mediante un enfoque analítico y metodológico integral. El estudio integra fundamentos teóricos, diagnósticos operativos, análisis comparativos y marcos estratégicos de desempeño como SCOR, Balanced Scorecard, indicadores de Gunasekaran y las Cinco Fuerzas de Porter. De forma paralela, la investigación incorpora procesos de simulación mediante FlexSim, estrategias de benchmarking, mecanismos de evaluación logística y análisis de competitividad con el propósito de identificar limitaciones operativas y proponer alternativas de mejora para empresas florícolas que operan bajo diferentes condiciones territoriales y logísticas.
